Lose Weight Programs – Which One is Worth the Money?

by Patsie Adams

There are a variety of lose weight programs out there. All of them have their adherents. All of them have their detractors. So, how do you choose one? We will explore a number of lose weight programs so you can pick the one that is best for you.

First, note how new lose weight books come out regularly. Some espouse strict low calorie dieting. Some call for no carbs to low carbs. Some call for high protein and let you enjoy some fat in your diet!

Go with your instincts. If the book or program makes sense to you and seems to fit your lifestyle, go and try it out. Give it at least two weeks to a months time to get a real feel for how it may work – or not – for you.

The more popular diet books inevitably lead to paid membership web sites, supplements, and other money making ventures. If a diet has been successful for you, it may make sense to join. However, you should stick to the books plan for a few weeks before investing more money in the program.

Many programs work with regular meetings. In the famous Weight Watchers program, weekly meetings are scheduled for progress assessments and motivation. They have a certain number of calories divided into Points each day and your goal is to rack up these points as you watch the pounds drop.

If you go for Weight Watchers, consider going to at least three meetings and choose different schedules before you settle on one. You will notice different meeting leaders have different styles. Even the crowd at a meeting can affect the tone, so find a group you can jive with

If you are the busy type, Jenny Craig is a great lose weight program. The meals are all set and pre-prepared. All you have to do is zap in the microwave. Only things you need to add are milk and some items from the fresh produce section. A consultant will be available for one-on-one tracking of how you’ve been doing.

While Jenny Craig is good it is also pricey. A week’s worth of “Jenny Food” can set you back $150. That fresh produce and milk you need get will cost you an extra $30 to $50 at the grocery. But many say it’s worth it. The food is supposed to be quite good.

You can save some money by going for Nutrisystem. Food in this lose weight program is shipped to you monthly. Majority of the meals are shelf stable meaning freeze dried. These don’t even need refrigeration. They have also recently added frozen food.

However, Nutrisytem’s freeze dried food leaves much to be desired. Besides, how fresh can that be? Still, this could be the plan for those who can’t afford Jenny Craig.

These are only some of the lose weight programs available to you. So you really need to read up and eventually try out to see which is best for you. There will be some trial and error but try not to go from one diet to another.

Once you have found the lose weight program for you, stick to it. That’s the way you can enjoy your weight loss goals, and not to mention make the most of your investment.
