4 Tips for a Weight Loss Detox
Summer is nearly here and swimming suits are on display. But for some it brings anxiety, especially for those who have not had success with weight loss programs. If this sounds like you, a weight loss detox may be the new solution to help you.
Have you had problems with weight loss programs in the past? These might include; cravings, mood swings, fatigue and just not enough time to prepare the foods you need to reach your goals. A weight loss detox may help you overcome these issues.
There is not a lot of information about weight loss detox programs. Since most people get their guidelines from a detox supplement package, you might find only generic information, not real help. With that in mind, here are four tips to help you start your own weight loss detox.
Tip 1 – Find healthy replacement foods for any unhealthy, fattening foods. Think of this as a two step process. You must find healthy versions of fatty foods that sabotage your goals. You must also seek out restaurants that have healthier versions of fast or fatty foods that tempt you.
Some foods may be harder for you to resist. This may be for a number of reasons from being convenient and comforting to just plain old tasty. These foods become harder to resist when you are tired, so having a healthier replacement ready can help. For example, if you love cookies, have a lower sugar, oatmeal cookie ready. Oatmeal is healthier than white flour. But be sure to keep it in your cupboard to follow the out-of-sight, out-of-mind rule.
Many times we go to fast food restaurants because they are convenient, especially after a hard days work and you just don’t feel like cooking. So, you figure you can still go to your favorite, but you’ll order that healthy salad instead of the fatty fries. Then you walk in, the smell is overwhelmingly good so you figure, next time and go ahead and order the fries anyway. You can overcome this.
Look for healthier restaurants that are on your way home from work, close to your home, or close to your work. Some restaurants offer healthier versions of favorites such as protein burgers, which exchange bread for a healthier leafy, green lettuce wrapping. Other restaurants carry leaner black beans which can replace beans that have been fried in lard.
Nowadays many health food stores have sandwich counters, lunch counters, delis or even small restaurants that offer healthy, quick meal choices. Some stores have salad bars or food bars and tables or a patio area to dine in. Find these restaurants and keep a list of them so you know where to go when you are short on time or too tired to cook. These types of businesses are less likely to tempt you with unhealthy food for that little extra profit.
Tip 2 – Consume drinks that contribute to a weight loss detox. Skip the diet sodas and drinks since they do not contribute to goals at all. Some diet gurus even tell their clients they can make you fatter! Read on for some better liquid choices.
Fresh grapefruit juice has long been an excellent juice for any weight loss program. It contains fat burning enzymes. Cranberry juice has been known to help your body eliminate fatty waste. Green tea has been shown to help dieters lose abdominal fat quicker than dieters who do not drink it. Some consider it to be an appetite suppressant. And lastly, warm lemon water adds much needed vitamin C while helping your body move excess waste out of your system.
Tip 3 – Eat a salad before lunch and dinner. Be sure this salad is green with a couple other vegetables on it. If you decide to use a dressing that you know is fattening, water is down to use less. This will cover more of your salad with while using less. Be sure to eat your salad before the meal.
Having your salad first may help you avoid overeating during your main meal. In addition vegetables get your digestion revving and ready for your main meal. When your digestion is working fully, your body will less likely store food as excess weight.
Tip 4 – Take a daily EFA, or essential fatty acid supplement. Many people do not get a healthy amount of EFA’s in their daily diet. However, this nutrient is important in that it has been shown to help lose excess weight. Some people find it also satisfies fat cravings and helps curb appetite. EFA’s are also important for healthy brain and heart function. Both are essential to helping you stay healthy on any weight loss program.
