When You Exercise To Lose Weight, Slow And Easy Is The Best Way To Achieve Lasting Results
Many adults today must face a quickly growing and harsh reality. Most of us are overweight, and getting more so every year. As much as we would like it to, the problem is not going to go away by itself. And despite many promises made by different people trying to sell you something, you are going to have put in some effort on a regular basis to solve this potentially deadly problem.
There are two lifestyle changes that must by employed to combat this. I say lifestyle changes, because if we change for only a short amount of time, changing back to our old ways will only bring back the old problems. We must make change that we can keep for life. For weight issues, we need to adjust the food that we eat, and the physical activity that we do. In this article, I’ll be talking about the physical activity.
When people start a weight loss plan, they usually shoot for a lot. While this is generally a good way to set goals, it can be difficult for weight loss. If you shoot for too much, too soon, it’s easy to get discouraged. Many people find their willpower vanishes after only a couple of weeks of high intensity workouts on a daily basis.
So the first trick is to simply start slow. Take whatever level of activity that you would like, if it were easy, and make that your goal for six months from now. And start today so you will achieve your goal in six months. The human mind body system is very complicated, and takes a long time to get used to new things. You need to give yourself time to get used to a new exercise routine.
And when you do get started, forget about joining a gym for a while. Just start off with some simple exercises you can do at home. Any kind of yoga, squats, stretching. And only do a couple a minutes a day for the first week or so. Just get into the habit of making exercise part of your daily life.
The big secret with weight loss is that slower is better, and that it is a gradual change in lifestyle, not a one time “diet” that you only temporarily go on. Once you realize this, and give yourself time to take it slow, you’ll be amazed how quickly you’ll see results.
